Birdwatching and Link-Hunting

Yesterday, I went to Juanita Bay Park to shoot some pictures. Like, for instance:

While I was there I met a man. He had a monster Nikon setup, complete with tripod and gimbal. He was taking extreme close-ups of a green heron which was feeding. Here's the heron (he has a tiny fish in his beak):

The point of this story, however, is that he said there was a web site with a discussion group where local nature photographers (amateur and otherwise) talk amongst themselves and set up trips together. The URL he told me isn't available... Searching for 'northwest photographers' didn't help, either.

However. I did discover that the University of Washington has a Pictoral and Graphics collection, including many prominent photographers from the northwest.

One of the photographers is John H. Cobb. Well, my grandmother's name was Cobb, so I'm curious if there's a connection. Maybe one day I'll actually get serious about this geneology stuff.

...is the point of telling someone about a website for which the URL isn't available?

I dunno. I figure he just misremembered it.
